About us
We model non-hierarchical leadership and grow worker power one collective at a time.
Theory of change
When community members own the means of their labor, decisions about wages, hours, and reinvestment stay in the neighborhood. We support that shift through cooperative incubation, youth education, and shared infrastructure.
Our shared-leadership model means staff make decisions collaboratively, not top-down. The same is true of every cooperative we incubate.
History
Grace in Action Collectives grew out of the worker-justice ministry of Grace in Action church in Southwest Detroit. Over a decade later, we incubate cooperatives across food, retail, tech, and care work.
Today the Collectives operate as an independent nonprofit, in close partnership with the church and with cooperatives across Detroit.
Our team
Grace in Action Collectives is led by a collaborative team working across administration, youth development, cooperative development, digital stewardship, building care, and community programs.
